“I thirst.” Two simple words that were spoken by Christ on the cross. Two simple words with an overflowing well of meaning.
Christ revealed His physical need … that He was human and needed water as he hung stripped of blood and fluids. He was the word made flesh.
Christ revealed His spiritual need … His thirst for our souls. He was living water and he wanted us to need him, to want Him, to thirst for Him.
Dear Lord, May I constantly thirst for Your living water.
“As a heart longs for flowing streams, so longs my soul for thee, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.” (Psalm 42:1-2)
