Operation osprey
Banding + Ecology
EDUCATIONAL FOCUS:
We will focus on the banding of Osprey birds while learning about the Osprey (life science); and the importance of bird banding and its connection with the environment (ecology). Students experience what it's like to be an Ornithologist through hands-on interaction with juvenile Osprey birds. They will band the Osprey, make observations, collect valuable data, and find solutions to problems that involve the protection of the Osprey and of its environment.
ADVENTURE FOCUS:
The Adventure Portion will focus on kayaking safety, kayaking techniques, and a 2-mile kayak course. Students will ride with a Park Naturalist in a motorboat to access various nesting platfoms throughout the river.
SPIRITUAL FOCUS:
We will focus on the fact that all creation points to God and we are to be stewards of this Earth. In Genesis, God gives us dominion over all animals and plants... he wants us to love His creation that He gave to us.
